Looking for an easy recipe for your next potluck or family gathering? I’ve got your back! These easy sausage balls are quick to whip up, require minimal ingredients, and are a crowd pleaser!
I was first introduced to this recipe at our annual family reunion. It is a recipe that is included in our family cookbook, and it is my go to for both small and large gatherings. They’re crispy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside.
We just had a small friend gathering to watch our beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats. When planning the menu, I knew that I had to include these sausage balls. They’re perfect for entertaining when your guests are grazing in and out of the kitchen. You’re going to need sausage, cheddar cheese, all purpose flour, an egg, a mixing bowl, cooking gloves (optional) and a sheet pan.

Start with placing your sausage in a mixing bowl. I just bought a mixing bowl set from Amazon, and love its versatility. You can find them here. Add your egg, cheese, flour, and start mixing by hand. I prefer to use nitrile gloves, like these, during this process so that I don’t get sausage all over my hands. Once the mixture is fully mixed together, start breaking off smalls sections and rolling them into 1 inch balls.

Place the balls on a greased baking sheet, and evenly spread them apart. This recipe yields around 24 balls. Although the sausage creates its own grease while baking, I still like to spray the baking sheet because they do have a tendency to stick if not. Bake them on 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
I like to place the sausage balls on a plate lined with paper towels when they come out of the oven. This helps to absorb any excess grease.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge! This recipe heats well and would be a wonderful easy meal prep recipe for an on the go breakfast! It is also easily doubled for larger batches!
